So I have a mini obsession that started a couple weeks back with what just happens to be the hottest trend this spring: Crackle Nail Polish. I first heard about it regarding Katie Perry having a black shatter through O.P.I which I just had to have! Of course it was sold out everywhere which made me completely /sadface. Recently I heard that O.P.I. also has a silver shatter with their Pirates of the Caribbean line but I have not been able to find any in stock at all. However, I was able to find Concrete Crackle by China Glaze! I snatched one up and tried it out with a pretty pink base and it's not bad at all. Don't get me wrong I am still completely in stalker mode for the silver but perhaps this can calm some of the pain.

Got the last of the coats on the wall! So now after a week and 4 coats of paint I'm finally able to start moving my furniture back in! I'm super psyched but I really need to do laundry so it's going to have to wait for now.

Leaps and Bounds

I have been making some great progress on my office lately. That awesome obnoxious green or "Leaping Lizard" as the manufacturers call it. I have a couple of coats up so far and it kind of looks like a highlighter shit on my walls but I am keeping up hope. I was told that I would have to allow 8 hours of dry time between coats. Now I am totally of the immediate gratification generation and this one coat a day is killing me! But I have work and family and video games that need my attention. /sigh. I think I may be able to finish up today with any luck as I don't have to work. Maybe I can even post a bit more about other things I like so I won't appear to have an unhealthy fascination with painting walls in neon colours.

Fresh new look!

So as you can see I have been playing around tweaking the lay out a bit. I like to think of this new look as girly meets emo. Kinda /wristsglam. I figured it was only fiitting considering what I have been up to lately.
The cabinet painting, that started on Sunday, sparked a flame. Before I knew it the fire was raging and I was tearing the wainscoting off of my walls. So it looks like this is going to turn into quite the involved project. Still I have to say that even this level of randomness is precedent for me!

So sorry for missing the update on the cabinet last night but don't worry, I was subsequently punished. After reluctentley waking up to my alarm after my ridiculously late night, I was moving at a snails pace. I was not expected in the office today. I was having my back door reinstalled due to a break in earlier this month. *Pausing for jokes* Even still I had an hour before he would even be there. i mean, really, when was the last time a repair man was on time right?

Well you will not be disappointed to learn that he was not on time. In fact I was sitting there in my over sized sweat pants and tank top, sleep in my eyes and bed head, when there was a knock on the front door. I am a notorious screener be it phone or unannounced house guests, so naturally, my first reaction was to ignore it but caution took over. I peek out the window to see the big signed work truck on the street. An hour early? Seriously?! I really wish I could say that this was the low part in my story. Instead when I cracked open the door to peek outside and I stand there in total silence blinking. In front of me is a carbon copy of a coworkers ex boyfriend that I had been partying with a few weeks back. To this day I refuse to admit I remember anything that happened that particular night so for now we will proceed with the story at hand. So here I am wading thru flashes of alcohol hazed memories as his mouth is clearly moving assumedly speaking to me since we are the only two people here. Now there is only one logical solution when a man you so recently allowed myself to act a fool in front of, I slammed the door shut. Not only that but a made a mad dash to my bedroom to put on a bra, clean t-shirt and pants that fit. I pull the door back open as I try to tame my tresses to find him still staring dumbfounded at my door. For the next three hours I try to rack my brain on how I can figure out if his is the dude or not without actually acknowledging that I may recognize him or remember that night. The three weeks following the incident were honestly tough enough. Finally I just debating on calling him to see if the phone rings on the mystery man in my mud room. But even if I blocked my number, how awkward would that be if I got caught? There really would be no viable excuse. So, I left it be, let him do his thing and called it a day. In the event that he was who I thought he was I was not going there if he wasn't. I'm not going to be that girl imagining a future with every guy I come into contact with. And even if I were I'm not giving him the satisfaction of knowing that secret! In any case, the job he did was amazing! I love my new door!

So this morning, I'm hanging out, procrastinating, doing my own little Sunday thing. You know, the type of thing where absolutely nothing gets accomplished but you sure think of a lot of things that need to be done when it suddenly hit me! Figuratively, not physically I should mention. My cabinet, in the corner of my living room, needs to be moved immediately to my office. Not only that but I can not live a second longer with its chocolate colour! No I don't know why. I rushed to the hardware store like a fiend to find the brightest shade of white I could find. Is it possible to nest without expecting? I don't know. What I do know is its time for a new coat of paint! I'll update on the outcome!

Or at least trying to be. I was gone for a bit but here I am back with you again. I'm determined to get this down and I don't intend to leave you again. There is a catch though. I thought about this a lot. I need a fresh new approach. Something worthy of a year long pause. Then it hit me! Okay actually it was more like I was confronted by a wall tiled in Charlie Sheen quotes. " Let's talk about something exciting, me!" Now I realize that I have a long way to go to catch up with sir Estavez however, I became "unbalanced" quite honestly, as you will come to see. I hope I can earn back your trust and readership. I'm here for the long haul this time!

Okay so this must be a sign... I dust off my keyboard for round 2 at this blogger thing and the story picks up right where I left it! Lucky or what?!?

Primary school students everywhere will be delighted to know that the tooth fairy can help save you from punishment... Or at least postpone the inevitable. Rapper Lil Wayne (pictured) was to be sentenced to today but a date with the dentist convinced the judge to push it back nearly a month.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not a hater. His songs are some of the most infectious out there, but really? Suck it up and take it like a man, you have known for months that you are going away. You have know for months that it would be a year. Do we really need to drag this out? I guess his actions have answered for him... Stay tuned March 2nd when we find out that sentencing will now be postponed an additional 6 weeks due to a previously scheduled pap test... hey; there has to be some situation in which they are looked forward to!

The truth shall set you free! Well, not really in this case. Looks like the father of the 18 year old Brussels girl, who had 56 stars tattooed on her face, will end up coughing up the cash. Finally she has come clean that she really did ask for all of the tattoo's and did not fall asleep in the chair and previously claimed.

Was there ever really a question that she was lieing? I mean really? Does the thought of someone inches your face in your face drawing on it with a large motorized needle sound anything like a tranquil setting? Her excuse? She lied when her father became furiouse... If she thought Daddy would be okay with half her face looking like the american flag she must have been smoking something pretty strong.

There is a gut-wrenching epidemic spreading throughout our country. The symptoms are debilitating and deadly. The screams are silent. This week I would like to do my part to bring awareness to this epidemic.

Unfortunately our children; brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins, are being preyed upon every day. In 2004 for every 100,000 children and youth under 18 living in populated areas, 775 were either physically or sexually assaulted. These are only the reported cases. How many more suffered in silence?

Girls are the most preyed upon sexually, over 4 times as often as boys in the same grouping. Boys however, are physically assaulted more then 50% more often than their female counterparts. A chilling fact is that most are abused by someone they know. The group the most at risk are youth 12 to 17 where 1,504 are abused of every 100,000 youth of this age group. It is speculated that increased independence is to blame as their social circles widen. This number decreases to 419 for every 100,000 children 3 to 11 and 126 of every 100,000 toddlers under 3. One child, is too many.

These facts are not only mind boggling, they are tragic. Why is it that this cycle of abuse is so strong? Why is it that these numbers continue to grow year by year? Why do so many allow themselves to suffer repeatedly? In the 2004 General Social Survey (GSS) 394,000 spousal violence victims reported that children were witness through sight or sound, to the reported domestic violence incident. This is 33% of all reported cases for that year. 33% of all reported cases. How many more went unreported? Where does change start?

Change starts with you. Knowledge is power, and you now know. There are endless ways to get involved at any level of commitment. Check here for ideas in your area. Please, do not turn a blind eye to their everyday cries.

Finally, my favorite holiday of the year, Black Day, is upon us! After nursing my Valentines day wounds for 2 months I finally get to celebrate me!

For anyone unaware, Black day actually originated in South Korea. Singles of the world unite! I am adopting this day, I think we should start supporting it worldwide. Not in the over-commercialized way we celebrate Easter, Christmas and pretty much any other day we have given i title. More like the way we silently celebrate August long weekend by abandoning everything that seems strenuous and stealing a day back to ourselves. Hm mm, maybe we can make a small exception and permit a cake...

Anyone with a significant other, you are not allowed! We have to listen to your stories about your other half every other day, we need a rest.

Off I go to get a mani/pedi and eat beef with black been sauce out of a take-out container. I'm in heaven already!
